Oppenheim

THE wine trading city on the river Rhine! Scarcely any other city in Germany is so much linked to viniculture and wine trade like Oppenheim. Already in the past, the sun-kissed vineyards produced wines of great reputation.

In the medieval period, from his viniculture Oppenheim evolved to a magnificent city. In 1281, Rudolf von Habsburg built a castle above the city. This castle was developed further in 1635 to a palace by the emperor Friedrich V. We cultivate vines still today in the castle garden. High above the city, in an exposed, sunspoilt location our Chardonnay vines grow on pure limestone.

Wines from Oppenheim are spicy with a herbal note, complex and very moderate in acidity, with a high creamy melodiousness.
