Dexheim

The vineyard estate „Dexheimer Doktor“ is pure limestone. 30 Mio. years old marine sediments have built up to a massive limestone rock. This rock is so ubiquitous that the limestone blocks have been exploited for centuries.

The organic layer with humus-rich earth is quite thin so that the grapevines anchor their roots in the barren rock, thus bringing pure minerality into the wine. During the 70s of the 20th century, our grandfather acquired abandoned quarries and renaturised them by planting vineyards.

The interaction of soil, microclimate and flora and fauna of such a quarry surprises us every ear again and again. The wines from Dexheim amaze by their clear fruit and a high saltiness on the palate. The existing acids are smoothed out by the pH level and are felt to be very pleasant
