Nierstein

The myth of the „Roter Hang“! This is the title of a book about the vineyards of Nierstein on the Rhine river. If the term „myth“ is really appropriate – well, we have our doubts. Since for us, it is reality, each time we work in the vineyard, take care of the Riesling wines in our cellar and especially when we have our clients taste the wines.

No doubt, the „Roter Hang“ is something extraordinary and undisputedly it is one of the most exclusive vineyards in the world! These 280 to 300 Mio. years old ferrous rocks produce Rieslings with an absolutely unique mineral. It is fair to say that the Rieslings from the „Roter Hang“ breathe Earth’s history and carry a million years old treasure.

The rock and the close proximity to the river Rhine are an unbeatable combination, thus justifying the worldwide reputation of this vineyard.

Wines from Nierstein are highly mineral, often very mellow and mighty, paired with an harmonic acidity. Often, it takes 2-3 years of patience to reach the optimal drinking maturity. The wines from the „Roter Hang“ have a considerable long-term cellar potential.
